How do you get a nation to trust you after you've killed (even if by accident) thousands of their civilians? How do you instill faith in a national army that has done little to protect them in the past? Perhaps showing them the bright side of Western intervention...start diverting portions of war funds to building infrastructure....whether it be built U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or we divert funds to the Afghani army to build. Regardless of who does it, a token of good faith from either the US miltary, the ANA, or ANP could prove invaluable to establishing good faith in government, and thus strengthen the counterinsurgency movement. Why does an afghan women chose to wear a burka, because that is her shielding from the evil of outside world, why would an afghan strap a suicide belt round him and blow himself up as the last resort, knowing it goes against the very principle of honour of tribe and Islam, It is not the way of warriors, it is not Islamic because in islam you are not allowed to take life not even your own it don’t belong to you. They know hell fire is waiting for them because they took their life, but it is an act of desperation, all their family bombed, insurgency, decades of war, what a poor nation had achieved through hard work was destroy by the Russians and westerners result of cold war, they have nothing to live for.
